Learning Ovations deploys the ESSA-Strong, research-proven A2i Professional Support System to improve K-3 literacy. A2i combines technology and professional development to raise reading achievement for all students in grades k-3. It is a professional support system – not a new reading curriculum – that leverages and seamlessly integrates districts’ existing assessments and curricula to help teachers take the guesswork out of optimally differentiating reading instruction for each child. The A2i software uses research-validated algorithms to analyze student assessment data and inform teachers of the type and amount of instruction needed to maximize reading growth for each student. Additionally, the software indexes the districts’ core curriculum and points teachers to the best learning activities to use for whole-group, small-group and individual instruction. Over 13 years of rigorous randomized control testing in hundreds of classrooms across the US and Canada show that when implemented with fidelity, A2i is proven to raise reading levels by 3rd grade to proficient and advanced. The impact is a reduction in the number of students assigned to costly special ed, remediation, and intervention programs and a stronger foundation for success in STEM and other content areas.
