Founded in 2004, Leadership Science is committed to the idea that organizational life, and in particular, the activities and impacts of leadership, can be understood with the tools of science. We know that many will be skeptical at first. We also understand the difficulty and uncertainty this commitment implies. With these well-considered cautions in mind, we continue our journey by developing additional theory, performing empirical research and field testing the essential tools of practice to develop the science of leadership. Our collective goal is to develop a field of theoretical and practical science, similar to Operations Research (OR), that relates the types and qualities of leadership activity in organizations to organizational capabilities, and thus, ultimately, to performance, adaptation and long term sustainability.
