Star Academy is a private, non-profit, non-public school (NPS) that is recognized throughout the Bay Area as a leader in education for students with learning differences in grades 3-12 and Post-High School for ages 18-22. Star Academy prepares and inspires students with learning differences to achieve their full potential. We individually-tailor our academic program to give every student the chance to experience daily success, build skills and self-confidence, and develop meaningful relationships. What makes Star Academy unique? At Star, our goal is to prepare students for transition. Transition to less restrictive schools, to college or to the workplace. On average, students attend Star Academy for three years. Star Academy is the place where they get back on their feet, gaining the self-knowledge, aptitudes and self-assurance they need to succeed in their next pursuit, whatever it may be. Our students face mild to moderate challenges such as: dyslexia, executive functioning deficits, dyscalculia, auditory processing, dysgraphia, ADHD and High Functioning Autism. Elementary, middle and high school students all benefit from Star’s calm, nurturing, and supportive environment, which are conducive to learning. High school students earn their high school diploma or certificate of completion and prepare to transition to college and/or other pursuits. Star Academy is a private, non-profit, California state certified, Non-Public School (NPS) that is fully accredited by the Schools Commission of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

Harmony School is an independent K-12 school in Bloomington, Indiana. Since its founding in 1974, Harmony School has been dedicated to the historic purpose of schooling: preparing young people to participate thoughtfully and actively in our democratic society. Harmony School is one branch of Harmony Education Center. The other branch is the National School Reform Faculty (NSRF) which works to increase student achievement through professional learning communities called Critical Friends Groups, or CFGs. The Harmony Education Center partners with the Deborah Meier Archive at Lilly Library and the IU School of Education Living-Learning Center as the Harmony-Meier Institute for Democracy and Equity in Education.

Morning Star is a small, non-profit school located in Pinellas Park, Florida. We are a mission of the Catholic Diocese of St. Petersburg and serve students with a variety of learning challenges and related difficulties. Morning Star School provides 1st (age 6 by Sept 1st) through 12th grade students with a full-day, comprehensive curriculum in a structured, small group setting. Our state certified special education teachers create individualized educational plans to meet the unique needs of each student. Building self-esteem and self-confidence is integrated into the curriculum of language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, Religious education, physical education, technology, library, art, and music. Students may also receive the specialized services of speech and occupational therapy as part of the school day. The student teacher ratio averages 11:1. At the present time, the enrollment capacity of Morning Star School is 100 students. The administration, faculty, staff and parents work together to provide a safe, nurturing, educationally-challenging environment in which students can achieve their full potential academically, socially and spiritually.
