Lasersoft of Michigan started in 1994 after its founder, Philip S. Bugg developed a series of 3D CAD/CAM offline programming software solutions for use with Mazak 5 Axis laser machines. The software worked on Micro Engineering Solutions S3000 platform using it's C library of functions (S3L.h). The software sold under the name Maz-CAT (for Mazak Computer Aided Teaching). It was revolutionary for it's time, moving the teaching process from the shop floor to the CAD/CAM system. After the program was taught at the machine, the NC program was brought back into the CAD system for viewing and editing which great enhanced shop production by moving the process from a $750K machine to a $40K CAD workstation. If the operators made changes to the NC program at the machine, no problem, just read the NC program back into the CAD system for additional viewing and editing if required. Over the years, we at Lasersoft tried to look for alternatives to re-develop but found none that would work. Finally in 2013, since so many years had passed and software technologies had changed so much, we decided it made sense to just start over completely, start from scratch and develop an all new, light weight, stand-alone, CHANGES ONLY system that could be used NOT ONLY for Mazak but for NTC and Mitsubishi and ANY OTHER CNC based machines(with a little more development costs, but not much). There would be several advantages to Lasesoft Changes (c), but most of all, we made the commitment to resource this product fully in order to provide an ever advancing technology to to support the 5 axis laser shops in the area and the US and eventually around the world. Today Lasersoft also offers many high tech services, including turn key engineering solutions, mainly for the Aerospace industry to provide unique solutions to advanced manufacturing problems that keep us at the forefront of manufacturing.
