Historic Hudson Valley, Westchester County’s largest cultural organization, educates and entertains more than 300,000 visitors a year through school programs, tours of five National Historic Landmarks, and large-scale events like The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze.
From our lower Hudson Valley base of operations, we focus on delivering quality educational and entertaining experiences, striking a balance between tradition and vision, from preserving the past, to contextualizing it for 21st-century audiences.
Historic Hudson Valley operates tours and public programming at Kykuit, the Rockefeller estate, Philipsburg Manor, Union Church, Washington Irving’s Sunnyside, and Van Cortlandt Manor. These sites help us make meaning for visitors in a variety of settings, including traditional house and landscape tours, formal educational programs for school children, popular on-site special events, and digital media.
Mission:
VISIT PHILADELPHIA® is our name and our mission. As the region’s official tourism marketing agency, we build Greater Philadelphia’s image, drive visitation and boost the economy.
Who We Are:
Recognizing that leisure tourism could be an important industry for the city and region, the City of Philadelphia, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and The Pew Charitable Trusts founded VISIT PHILADELPHIA as the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation in 1996. The next year, we launched the first consumer campaign inviting people to visit the five-county region (Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties). Today, Greater Philadelphia welcomes 13.4 million more leisure travelers annually than it did in 1997.
Successful campaigns include the current Come for Philadelphia. Stay for Philly; With Love, Philadelphia XOXO®; Philly’s More Fun When You Sleep Over®, the most successful post-9/11 hospitality recovery campaign in the U.S.; the groundbreaking Philadelphia – Get Your History Straight And Your Nightlife Gay®; and With Art Philadelphia®, the city’s first-ever coordinated and sustained visual arts marketing effort.
Funding:
A 501(c)3, VISIT PHILADELPHIA funding sources include Philadelphia County hotel tax, foundation grants, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania grants, partnerships and sponsorships. We are not a membership organization.
The Gettysburg Foundation is the nonprofit partner of the National Park Service at Gettysburg and Eisenhower National Historic Site. We preserve these places not to freeze history, but to keep it alive—active and relevant. In partnership with the Park Service, we safeguard the ground where the nation faced its greatest test and ensure it remains a civic classroom for generations still learning what democracy requires.
We don’t just preserve the past. We give the future something to stand on.
