Since forming in 2007, the GNDR has sought to increase the effectiveness of civil society to contribute towards the building of resilient nations and communities - putting the concerns, needs and priorities of vulnerable people at the heart of disaster risk reduction policy and practice. Focus has been on three core objectives:ObjectivesPolicy Formulation - ensuring risk reduction policies are appropriate to local context, needs and prioritiesPolicy Implementation - supporting effective execution of risk reduction policies at the local levelResource Mobilisation - increasing access to resources at the local level.To achieve these objectives, activities have been developed that:Strengthen public accountability and transparency (including local level policy monitoring)Develop evidence-based policy advocacy at all levelsRaise effective demand for community-based disaster risk reductionStrengthen participation and partnership approaches between state and civil society actorsFoster collaboration and coordination across all levelsShare information, including promoting good practice and lessons learntDevelop linkages between disaster risk reduction, climate adaptation and poverty alleviationFind out more about the core GNDR activities:Views from the Frontline - to find out and share the reality of those most vulnerableAction at the Frontline - to share progress being made by GNDR members at the local level. Young Solutions Worcestershire is a progressive infrastructure charity, dedicated to keeping young people throughout our county ‘safe and involved’ by providing advice and training, and supporting the work of our members, voluntary youth clubs, community groups and all organisations with the well-being of children and young people at their core.

Voluntary Action Arun & Chichester (VAAC) are a member organisation that promotes and supports voluntary and community groups - our mission is to help the sector to develop by supporting existing groups as they grow and by providing advice and training to new groups, We offer 1:1 support in a range of areas including: governance, policies and procedures, committee support, HR, project development, crisis resolution, start-ups and volunteering. Our membership is FREE and we offer a weekly e-bulletin on the latest government policies, local jobs, training and funding. We also send out a monthly funding e-newsletter detailing grants locally and nationally. On occasion, we are commissioned to conduct paid work with voluntary groups, mostly in Organisational Reviews with the board of trustees and senior management.
