Having celebrated our 90th birthday in 2017, LAMPS are pleased to be back to our roots in Tonbridge, now performing at the E.M. Forster theatre after 59 happy years in Southborough. We are always delighted to welcome new members and patrons, as well as old friends, so come along and join in the fun! If you can't find what you're looking for on our website please contact us. LAMPS' history began with players from the Judd School Rugby Club in Tonbridge who took to the boards when funds were low. Their first production entitled "Query? was penned by an ex pupil and raised £35 (£467 in 2017). Encouraged by their success the props and forwards continued to play male and female parts until they were joined by pupils from Tonbridge Girls' Grammar School. The 1930s saw the group thrive break away from the school, and with a gap during the Second World War, have expanded theatrical boundaries ever since. With an ambition to produce high quality entertainment, LAMPS has tackled many exciting productions over the years; from the classics; 'Half a Sixpence', 'Annie Get Your Gun!', 'Me and My Girl' and 'The Music Man', to the more contemporary; Disney's 'Beauty and the Beast', 'The Full Monty' and 'The Producers'. In total 107 shows have been staged by LAMPS in their 90 year history and 2017 sees the Players returning to their roots as a Tonbridge society. Having previously performed at the Medway Hall and The Tonbridge Repertory Theatre they moved to the Royal Victoria Hall Theatre in Southborough in 1956 and stayed there until its enforced & untimely closure in January 2015. The Players are excited to be back in Tonbridge and can't wait to entertain new and old audiences alike at their new home in the E.M. Forster Theatre at Tonbridge School. Our Next Show
