Lake Pend Oreille Waterkeeper Information

Lake Pend Oreille Waterkeeper (LPOW) is a non-profit organization located in Sandpoint, Idaho. Our mission is to protect water quality in the Clark Fork/Pend Oreille Watershed so our magnificent waterways remain swimmable, fishable and drinkable for future generations. Founded in March of 2009, LPOW works in the public interest to minimize water pollution in Lake Pend Oreille and related water bodies. Our area of focus includes the lake, the Pend Oreille River down to Albeni Falls Dam, the Clark Fork up to Cabinet Gorge Dam, and all the tributaries that flow into the lake. Through education, partnership and advocacy, we work to protect water quality and to improve the vitality of the people and ecosystems that rely upon or enjoy these incredible waterways. Our mission is founded in the belief that every person has a fundamental right to clean water. We advocate for this right in accordance with the letter and spirit of the law.
