We are working hard to improve attendance and punctuality. You will probably have noticed that children walk straight into school now much earlier! The electric bells for certain times in the day will help even more. Our pupils are gaining greater responsibilities through our work towards achieving the 'investors in pupils' award. Believe it or not we also have a Forest School on site. Our trained teachers help children understand the outdoors and learn some basic survival skills. We are all buzzing with enthusiasm. Everyone is clearer about the schools expectations which are designed with our pupils in mind. There are now ample opportunities for pupils to gain recognition and exciting rewards for their efforts and achievements in school. There will still be a need for sanctions as a consequence for pupils, but we expect these to have a positive impact in the long run. Thanks to all parents for their support - we need your help to raise good citizens. Homework is now regular and pupils are taking much more pride in their work. One of the biggest investments we have made is increasing the number of teachers in every year group, providing more capacity to target teaching more at the specific needs of our pupils. Ladypool staff are working collaboratively with colleagues in local schools such as Clifton, Greet and Brookfields. This has been invaluable in giving teachers the opportunity to share good practice, ensuring we are at the forefront of new developments in education, making us even better! Our teachers spend much more time marking books and giving feedback on your children's work so, please talk to your child about the comments they are receiving. The beautiful grade two listed building is currently being revamped, making it even more colourful and welcoming. We are also redesigning our whole school's curriculum in line with new national curriculum guidance but also to make it much more inclusive, interesting and engaging for our pupils. It doesn't stop there.... our parents room is fully booked with courses and activities and we continually have children and parents learning together. This unique resource is allowing our pupils to appreciate 'lifelong learning' in practice. In the past year Ladypool has had a number of inspections that have recognised all the hard work everyone is putting in, and our belief that complacency is not an option. (Follow the Ofsted link on the website to read these reports). Ladypool School is committed to giving our pupils the best opportunities to be successful in what they choose to do. We are a happy, multicultural, inclusive school that values equal opportunities and diversity. We aim to broaden pupils knowledge, skills and experiences, preparing them to be responsible citizens in an ever shrinking global society. As you can see it is an exciting time at Ladypool Primary School. With a new and determined leadership, everyone is working very hard to make our school excellent for the benefit of our pupils and families. I am so pleased to be the head teacher of such a vibrant school! If you are considering sending your child to Ladypool, or applying to work here, join us! Come, have a look around and meet our staff.
