La Peg is a contemporary American brasserie by Peter Woolsey located inside the FringeArts building in Old City Philadelphia across from the Race Street Pier. The dining room is grandiose, with 45 foot tall ceilings and large windows to match. Every seat in the house offers dramatic views of the industrial-chic interior and the gracefully arching Benjamin Franklin Bridge. Just out doors is a beer garden with a shipping container for a bar featuring casual seafood, burgers and cold drinks in the warmer months and fire pits in the winter. The food is casual, regional American cuisine with options for the curious, as well as the unadventurous. The service is relaxed and casual yet informed and unobtrusive. Come in for a snack, dessert, drink or blow out meal. La Peg will satisfy any occasion! La Pegs interior and beer garden was designed by Groundswell Design and Stokes Architecture. The industrial-chic design pays homage to the building which was originally built at the turn of the century as a high pressure pumping station which fed fire hydrants around center city and the north east allowing Philadelphia to grow in height. The dining room is adorned with some of the salvaged tanks, shelves, staircase, doors and a map of the pumping system from the original building. The FringeArts building also houses their 230 seat theater. A massive 30x30 sound-proof door can open to combine the theater space with the restaurant.
