We are at a crossroads. More women then ever before in history are leading businesses and movements. And yet, 95% of the support, ideas, practices and processes for leaders were created by and for men. Leadership has been out of balance for a millennium. Leveraging masculine approaches toward hierarchy, power, authority and dominance. Even in corporations, leverage the theories that kings followed to rule are still applied. The feminine has been views as ‘soft’, or ‘weak’ and for sure less effective. Not any more. We’ve all watched as traditional business has tried to integrate more leadership lessons that encourage the development of ‘soft skills’. With the introduction of Emotional Intelligence, Coaching, Leadership Competency Modeling and so much more, we are still applying a masculine approach to team what are more feminine qualities. It’s no surprise that we have MORE disengagement amongst team members now despite the exponential increase in leadership development companies, theories and dollars spent. The entire approach to introduce new ideas into what it means to be a leader have failed, because the system they are implemented into, is and has been in a rapid free fall for several decades. It is time to restore balance and support for women who lead with feminine leadership practices that align with who they are, how they build relationships, communicate, inspire and ultimately achieve exceptional results.
