Kreative Kinder Haus Information

It was my dream that my space should be a space where these children feel safe, feel loved and where we teach them in a way that they can learn and not in the way that we think and want them to learn. My space is a free space in which children on the spectrum openly interact with neurotypical children. I purposely set-up Kreative Kinder Haus in this way so that neurotypical children learn to accept, care for and stand up for children who are unique. It was amazing for me to observe how a 4 year old came up to me and told me to take care of an autistic child who was putting something in his mouth. Another 3 year old girl effortlessly entered the world of a 9 year old autistic girl when she lay down on the floor with her and played with her. Children with autism are also children and should be loved and accepted for all the colours they bring to our world and not be labelled and shunned because of their uniqueness. On this journey of setting up and running Kreative Kinder Haus I have learnt a lot. I have met parents who have taught me to never give up, no matter what the adversity. They have taught me what it means to sacrifice everything for your children and to keep pushing forward even in times when it may seem that the whole world is against you. In the last few months realised a lot of people are unaware of what autism is - they think it is a contagious communicable disease. I have had parents refuse to enrol their neurotypical kids in our regular programs because they feel their kids may catch this "so called" disease. Autism is not a disease, like some children have allergies, some have diabetes - just like that some have autism. Autism is not a disease, for me, it is a gift which makes each child unique in a way which we may never fully understand. I feel blessed to have the chance to get to know and work with children on the spectrum. Each child is so unique and teaches me so much. On this journey I have learnt compassion and patience. These children have given me the strength and courage to take a stand for them and for all that they stand for. These children are our future and we need to all hold hands and work together to help them shine in their own unique way. Lend a Helping Hand
