At Kopelov Cut Stone, we offer high quality stone cutting and decorative carving for restoration contractors, commercial builders, custom designers, and private individuals. We're proud of the care we take with our work. This is all we do, and we do it really well. We specialize in traditional processes and designs. In the late 1800's, there was a balance of old and new technology. This was an era when stone mills began to integrate industrial age tools and machinery into their manufacturing processes, while continuing to use hand tools and methods from medieval and ancient times. We try to achieve this balance in our own work. The tools we use in our shop today are similar to those used at the turn of the last century-planers, lathes, pneumatic hammers, and chisels. Before the 20th century, many buildings were constructed of load-bearing stone masonry. While many communities have done well in preserving these old structures, some buildings have been neglected or poorly renovated using incompatible patching materials. We believe that natural stone can be a cost-effective solution to restoring the beauty and integrity of our nation's historic resources. The respect for traditional fabrication processes and an appreciation for historic design-this is what inspires us every day.
