Kolping International Information

We help financially by realizing concrete projects in various fields: job training, small business promotion, development of infrastructure in rural areas, health care service, fostering of children and young people, emergency relief in natural disasters etc. An emphasis is put on self-aid initiatives. The projects are planned and implemented by local Kolping families or the respective national societies. As a family-like community, the Kolping families in our partner countries are the support for people. These are the places where community comes alive, where solidarity is practised, democracy is introduced and socio-political ac-tivities are promoted. Education work plays an important role here, because we think of our organization as a community that is active in education as well as social and political campaigns. We try to establish long-lasting and solid social structures and hence more just societies in our partner countries. In 2007 alone the Social and Development Aid of the Kolping Society financed projects in 46 countries in the amount of more than 8.4 million Euros. How do we finance our projects? Almost one third of the budget is financed by donations. Two thirds of the budget are public subsidies that in the first place derive from the Federal Ministry for Economic Coop-eration and Development (BMZ) and the European Union. The German Central Institute for Social Issues (DZI) has acknowledged the Social and Development Aid of the Kolping Society a special donation worthyness. The DZI gave us their donation seal in approval of our seriosity and transparency. The DZI Seal-of-Approval guarantees that donation funds are forwarded to the project accounts directly and without deducing high administrative expenses.
