Climate change is threatening the future of our environment and our way of life. People's well-being is threatened by changes in working life caused by the global economy. The green movement is offering a fair and safe solution. We want to leave future generations a world which is in a better condition than it is today. Background The party was founded February 28, 1987, and registered as a political party the next year. Political activity had begun already in the early 1980s, when environmental activists, feminists and other active groups began to campaign on Green issues in Finland. In 1995 it was the first European Green party to be part of a state-level Cabinet. The party was founded as a popular movement. The party still especially stresses openness and democratic decision-making.

SDP in Finland, founded 1899, is a modern, centre left party, which aims to unite the potential of the political system with the hopes and optimism of our progressive ideals. Our key values include: * A fair society – A society without fairness, is a society without meaning. Success, opportunity and freedom must be open to all people, and society should reward hard work and fair-play – not greed, status or chance. The measure of people should be their respect for others, not their wealth and background or characteristics such as race, sexuality or gender. * A supportive state – States should not decide how people live their lives, but they can give people the power to choose for themselves. The state should not be an authority above citizens, but a solid base below them - on which they can build their lives with the services and security they need to pursue their dreams. * A sustainable future – We cannot ignore the great problems of tomorrow, for the small benefits of today. Environmental damage, reckless economic activity and a weakening of social care all pose threats to the future of our country and our world. An active state and international cooperation must be the tools with which we build a sustainable future.

The Finnish Nature Associatio - Luontoliitto in Finnish - is one of the largest Finnish environmental NGOs for kids and youth in Finland. Most of our members are between 5 and 29 years of age. Founded in 1943, we currently have 7 000 members, eight regional, and two local organizations in Finland. We are both politically and organizationally independent, and the youth organization of the Finnish Association for Nature Conservation (Suomen luonnonsuojeluliitto), the largest national environmental NGO in Finland. Our mission is a society where natural biodiversity and the intrinsic value of nature is acknowledged and respected. We offer knowledge, experiences, activities and possibilities for kids and youth to influence and participate in environmental decision-making processes. Some of the things we do: * Environmental camps, clubs and education for children and the youth * Courses in environmental education for the youth, students and adults * Publishing magazines, guidebooks and other material related to nature and environmental protection * Environmental policy work
