Erdemir, the main company of the OYAK Mining Metallurgy and one of the most valuable industrial assets of Turkey, was established in 1960 under a special law, in order to be the first domestic producer of flat steel, which the Turkish industry necessitates at that time. Erdemir produces plates, hot and cold rolled, tin, chromium and zinc coated flat steel and supplies basic inputs to automotive, white goods, pipes and tubes, rolling, manufacturing, electrics-electronics, mechanical engineering, energy, heating equipment, shipbuilding, defense, and packaging industries.

Established in 1976 with Limak Construction, Limak has meanwhile added other branches to its business field, including tourism, cement, food, airport and port operations and energy generation – distribution - sales & trading. With several projects and investments in 13 different countries, and over 45.000 workers in total, the total value of projects accomplished by the company up to present day does add up to more than 6.5 billion USD. In the tourism sector, the company is currently operating 7 hotels with an overall bed capacity of more than 5.000, which makes the company one of the largest hotel chains of Turkey. In the cement sector, the company is the second largest manufacturer across the country. The company is at the same time investor and operator of the Pristina International Airport in Kosovo; and partner to the Istanbul New Airport Project which is going to be one of the largest airports worldwide. Being at the same time investor and operator of Limak Port Iskenderun – the most strategic port of the Eastern Mediterranean, Limak is also a major actor of the energy sector, having vertically integrated energy into all of its fields of business.
