Kodenkan Institute Information

NPO Kodenkan Institute is dedicated to the preservation of East Asian traditional culture through research, publishing, lecturing, and other activities. One of our first steps was publishing of Dr. Anatoliy Anshin's book "The Truth of the Ancient Ways: A Critical Biography of the Swordsman Yamaoka Tesshu." Drawing from his doctoral dissertation, Dr. Anshin provides a new insight into the cultural history of the Japanese warrior class, the samurai, and its martial arts through the life of Yamaoka Tesshu, a famous swordsman of the second half of the 19th century.
