Knowledge Pool Information

Knowledge Pool is a registered nonprofit social enterprise that offers free career enhancement training and support to our community; Doncaster. This initiative was borne out of the desire to support young people achieve higher and bridge the knowledge gaps in employer's desirable skills that could help the unemployed get in the job market and offer opportunities for career progression to the employed. According to the Post 16 Review 2018, the rates of young people in Doncaster achieving both level 2 and level 3 qualifications have been historically lower than the national average and declining slowly over the past four years. The review also identified a fall in the number of pupils attending school sixth forms and a need to improve the contribution that apprenticeships make to increasing employment and access to higher education. We have helped people in administrative roles up their IT skills and remove the pains in interacting with Microsoft tools. People with little or no knowledge of IT skills have gained a lot of confidence in operating the tools, understanding the principles as well as troubleshooting techniques. We organised a seminar at Bawtry in March 2019 to provide information on apprenticeship opportunities and encourage the members of the BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) background in our community to embrace apprenticeship. We also offer the following free services; opportunities, CV review, interview preparation, masters classes in leadership training. We have success stories from our candidates with age ranging from 16-64 years about how valuable the training had been to their career. Knowledge pool is run completely by volunteers and the cost of operations and tool is borne by our organization. The only thing we require from our candidate is commitment. 85% attendance is mandatory in order to make our training effective.
