DER SPIEGEL is a weekly German news magazine founded in 1946 and being published in Hamburg. It is one of Europe's largest publications of its kind with a weekly circulation of more than one million and it has long been a German institution as a news magazine. The quality requirements have always been high and in 2006 we took a logical step forward in the workflow of our Picture Management solution system by adding the software Klearvision Intelligent Color Server. For many years the Imaging department has worked smoothly with this technology in combination with Mac OSX workstations, because the software deploys numerous automatic functions with the hotfolder system as an integral part of the image improvement and conversion process to get images ready for printing. an average of 500 images per week is processed this way by our staff, some are further optimized individually. Now after updating to the new Klearvision Kolor-D features it shows that there have been lots of improvements in the quality and reliability of Kolor-D and approximately 98% of the modified pictures can be used without the need of additional color adjustments. Faster and more cost-efficient we could hardly produce.
