The late Mr Kirudu Mohamed Bin Kuppaikanni, Mr Kaliq Jamal and Mr Ramesh embarked their journey in nasi kandar business with a clear common vision - to serve authentic nasi kandar food for the locals. Their first stall concept nasi kandar was at a corner shop at Chai Leng Park, Seberang Jaya, Penang. The mastermind and founders of the most popular Nasi Kandar Pelita, Mr Kirudu Mohamed and Mr Kaliq Jamal - a borne spice lover, just knew the right blend of the spices to make a dish literally finger-licking good! A humble start for Mr Kirudu Mohamed from a typical nasi kandar stall way back in 1972 at Chowrasta Market and later moved to Kinta Lane, Penang has flourished to be a renowned household brand name in Malaysia today. With 45 years of experience and partnership with another great cook, Mr Kaliq Jamal, both were very enthusiastic to start up a nasi kandar restaurant. In fact in 1973-1974, they were among the first Indian Muslims who introduced floor-to-ceiling tiles nasi kandar shop, which was such a hit back then. As the business prosper, both his sons, Mr Sihabutheen, who pursued his studies in architecture as oppose to Mr Uswath Khan, who was more hands-on in his late father's nasi kandar business, a business-minded of characteristic were very much involved in the family business too. The founders understood that the core of their business is to provide the best possible dining solution for their patrons and in order to sustain their business, they needed some drastic change to ensure the returns of their patrons. It was so timely that Mr D. Murugan@Ramesh, who was their seafood supplier, a good friend and an eager young entrepreneur incepted the idea of conceptualizing a first chain nasi kandar restaurant in Malaysia.
