Kipando - Cycling as a Service Information

Kipando developed a next generation bike sharing solution. This solution consisted of a smart bike lock, a smartphone app and an online management platform. It was significantly cheaper than other bike sharing solutions at the time. For the users of the shared bicycles the ease of use increased by using mobile apps and by the integration with other mobility solutions. There was no need for fixed infrastructure and the lock fitted any standard bike which increased the flexibility for operators of bike sharing systems. Fully functioning prototypes of the smart bike lock were successfully tested in Belgium in the summer of 2015. Early 2016 the patent pending technology was sold to a US competitor
