Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold. The cracks aren't hidden. They become the most valuable part. That's what we believe about people. Kintsugi Heroes is an Australian not-for-profit helping people tell the stories they need to share, so that others can find the stories they need to hear. Real stories of overcoming adversity: mental and physical illness, addiction, grief, trauma, natural disasters, loneliness, displacement and more. Founded in 2022 by Ian Westmoreland OAM and powered largely by volunteers, we've captured and published hundreds of stories through video and audio podcasts, radio broadcasts, books, photographic exhibitions, documentaries and community events. Through our partnership with Vision Australia, our stories reach over 300,000 monthly radio listeners across the country. Why it matters: nearly half of all Australians will face mental health challenges in their lifetime, and more than half of those living with mental illness never seek treatment. Somewhere out there, someone is in the middle of their hardest chapter, convinced they're the only one. Our stories exist so they know they're not. Our vision: a world filled with meaningful personal connections. Kintsugi Heroes Ltd is a registered Health Promotion Charity with DGR status. Donations of $2 or more are tax-deductible.
