Kinetic Performance Technology Pty Ltd was established in 2000 by Rob Shugg and Evan Lawton to bridge the gap between the theory of sports science and the practical application to sports performance. The company’s first product, GymAware, launched in 2003, is a tool for measuring athletic power in the gym while training. This product uses wireless mobile technology (First Palm, and now iOS devices) and uploads the data to an online analysis server - this was a leading edge concept in 2003. While certain early GymAware adopters took advantage of this technology, it took some time for these concepts to be accepted by the broader sporting community. GymAware clients were rapidly developing requirements to monitor more and more variables that gave context to the data recorded. Kinetic realised that the collection of data, its analysis and knowledgeable application would be a foundation element of improving performance in elite sport in the future. Kinetic’s response - the launch of the Kinetic-Athlete in 2008. Kinetic-Athlete is a complete athlete performance and monitoring application which includes GymAware as one of a number of built in modules. Kinetic, like Australian Sport on the international scene, has always punched above its weight. The company is agile and lean by choice, enabling it to respond quickly to a rapidly changing environment and to produce the most innovative systems for elite sport.
