KidneyCure employs its vast scientific, renal-related knowledge to discover, expand upon and commercialize its therapeutics to combat one of the world's fastest growing epidemics, kidney disease. Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is plaguing the world in never-before-seen proportions. The therapeutic options currently being offered are largely limited to supportive care until end-stage renal disease requires patients to resort to dialysis programs or renal transplantation. Dialysis has shown high mortality rates and while kidney transplantation provides better outcomes, it is severely limited by the shortage of organs. Thus, there is a tremendous clinical need to generate, construct and repair nephrons, the functional filtration unit of the kidney, and improve renal function. Stem and progenitor cell therapies hold promise as a way to achieve this. KidneyCure is testing this cell technology to derive human renal stem and progenitor cells from within fetal and adult kidneys and ultimately treat damaged or degenerated kidneys.
