After giving the world premiere performance of Ben Johnston's String Quartet No. 10 at the Milwaukee Art Museum's Calatrava addition, the four string players of Present Music independently formed Kepler Quartet with the purpose of recording all ten of Mr. Johnston's quartets. The group released CD1 (Ben Johnston: String Quartets Nos. 2, 3, 4 & 9; Cat. No. 80637) in 2006, and CD2 (Ben Johnston: String Quartets Nos. 1, 5 & 10; Cat. No. 80693) in 2011, both through the New World Records label. A third CD, so as to complete the recorded cycle, is currently in the fund-raising and planning stages.
