The High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK) is a world-leading research institute with campuses in Tsukuba city and Tokai village, Japan, dedicated to advancing fundamental science across particle physics, nuclear physics, materials science, and life sciences. Established in 1997 in a reorganization of the National Laboratory for High Energy Physics (founded in 1971) and two institutes of the University of Tokyo, KEK serves as a center of excellence for domestic and foreign researchers, providing a wide variety of research opportunities.
