British Steel is one of the leading steel manufacturers in Europe, producing up to 3 million tonnes of quality steel products every year. From this, we manufacture more than 1,450 different specifications of steel that gets rolled into rail, sections, special profiles and wire rod.
We have manufacturing facilities across the UK and Europe, supplying premium products around the world. We also have a global network of regional sales teams, so our global customers receive local service.
In April 2025, the UK Government took control of British Steel to safeguard the continued operation of our blast furnaces. This intervention secured more than 4,000 jobs and maintained the UK’s sovereign capability to produce primary steel, made directly from raw materials rather than recycled scrap.
At British Steel, our mission is to manufacture and supply high quality steel products that support a modern, sustainable economy, delivered responsibly, competitively and with pride to customers across the UK and around the world. We're a company with a proud heritage, a passion to build stronger futures and a focus on progress. Our past has always been important to us but now we’re looking to the future as a trusted partner in steelmaking, building enduring confidence in British Steel while helping to shape a safer, stronger, more sustainable future.
Our steel has been, and continues to be, fundamental in creating iconic, awe-inspiring structures around the world. It helps people travel, work, eat and socialise every day. More importantly, it helps keep us safe.
Established in 1928, Steelway Fensecure have been at the forefront of steel fabrications for over 90 years including the United Kingdom's first ever pedestrian barriers in 1934. Welcome to Trident Metals, specialists in recycling aerospace alloys using a unique individual small batch melting and casting operation.
Established in 1978, Trident Metals have operated from a 3-acre site, with 30,000 ft² of warehousing in Deeside, North Wales.
In 1998 Trident introduced melting capacity into their operation and now produce approximately 8000 tons per annum of RSI. Tridents high purity melting methods provide a distinct competitive advantage to their clients.
Trident specialise in the recycling of high purity aluminium alloys, helping customers and suppliers develop a “closed loop” supply chain, delivering to leading global producers that serve the primary aerospace and aviation markets throughout the world.
The ‘closed-loop system’ allows Trident to acquire, high-purity scrap from aerospace suppliers, subsequently processing and melting their production scrap offcuts and briquetted aluminium.
Trident manufactures 500kg ‘in specification’ re-melt primary sow (RSI), which can be used as a direct primary replacement in aerospace alloy production, yielding a substantial reduction in CO₂ emissions.
The utilization of Tridents processes and controls supports considerable reductions in CO₂ emissions. The production of 1 ton of primary aluminium can produce up to 20 tons of CO₂, when compared to the use of 1 ton of recycled aluminium as a direct primary replacement, which generates only 0.41 tons of CO₂, a reduction in CO₂ emissions of 98% can be achieved.
Tridents ability and commitment to preserving purity, composition and yield has led to them developing into an extremely trusted partner and integral link in the aerospace and aviation sectors.
