Karen Curtis has been designing and crafting high end jewelry made with crystals from Swarovski® since 2000 when she started her New York City based company. She is one of the only designers who bridges fashion jewelry with fine jewelry. She started her company using Swarovski crystals because of their limitless, vibrant and incredible sparkle. She specializes her designs by incorporating vintage Swarovski crystals into her creations. Some of these crystals are so rare that they date back as far as the 1930's when they were last being created. Each piece is limited edition if not one of a kind and is carefully hand crafted using sterling silver or 14k gold filled metal. Karen is known for her colorful limited edition lines of jewelry which truly provide her customers with a unique piece of wearable art but in addition to her jewelry she has been creating what she calls " ceiling art" since 2006. In 2009 after meeting her husband, a glass artist trained in an Italian style of glass blowing she expanded her home decor collection with a line of hand blown glass. This work which ranges from wine stoppers to larger vases & platters and captures the same vivid color compositions seen in the jewelry but is completely hand blown and shaped by Karen and her husband at a glass studio in New York City. The hand blown glass objects, are true works of art. They spare no time or expense in the process and continue to make everything from scratch, this includes creating the colored glass tiles, fusing the tiles together and ultimately hand blowing the molten glass into something distinctively hand made and breathtakingly beautiful. urtis' designs are hand crafted by the designer herself and her husband, Aaron Niemczyk.
