Founded in 1961, the International School of Berne (ISBerne) is a private day school in Gümligen, near Switzerland’s capital, welcoming local and international students from Preschool through Grade 12.
As the only International Baccalaureate (IB) World School in the Bern region offering the full IB continuum, ISBerne provides the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP). Students can also work towards the ISBerne High School Diploma.
Our Kindergarten and Primary School offer an additional German–English pathway aligned with Lehrplan 21, providing families with continuity with the local curriculum while their children learn in an international school environment. The pathway will expand by one grade each school year through Grade 9.
Today, approximately 275 students from around 45 nationalities learn together on our campus. Small classes, individual attention and a welcoming community help students settle in, build confidence and develop the skills they need for their next steps in Switzerland or abroad.
ISBerne is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).
