Kangu Information

Kangu connects people to ensure that every woman and child in the world have a safe birth. The crowdfunding platform at www.kangu.org makes it possible to search profiles of pregnant women and contribute $10 or more towards a specific woman’s safe birth services. We are expanding access to healthcare to pregnant women and newborn babies when they need it most, and raising a new source of capital for hospitals, clinics and NGOs around the world. Kangu has been lauded as an innovative social enterprise, winning Columbia Business School's Social Venture Pitch Competition in 2013, and was selected as a finalist for the Echoing Green and Women Deliver Social Entrepreneur Awards. In addition to utilizing social media outlets, such as Facebook, Kangu has appeared on high-profile media outlets, including: Forbes.com, New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Huffington Post. The Kangu team is constantly working to engage a larger audience globally, to promote donations for life-saving health services to women and children. Through advocacy campaigns, media outlets, corporate partnerships and individual giving, Kangu has reached over 15 million people and covered the costs of the continuum of reproductive, maternal and neonatal health services for nearly 500 pregnant women in Uganda and Nepal.
