Kanakna Productions NV Information

Zodiak Belgium was founded in 1993 as Kanakna by documentary makers Ludo Poppe and Pascal Decroos. In the following years, Kanakna grew steadily, producing quality documentaries for the public broadcaster VRT. In the late nineties, Kanakna widened their scope, introducing Reality television in Belgium with Trailer Park (Camping), Children’s Hospital, Police, Airport… Since the end of the century, Kanakna became the biggest independent producer of Reality television in Belgium, producing for all Belgian channels. With the flagship production Peking Express Kanakna established itself as an international succesfull production company, also producing shows for French, Italian, Dutch, Spanish, Portugese and South-African channels. In 2007 Kanakna became part of Swedish Zodiak Television. A year later Zodiak Television was acquired by the Italian De Agostini Group and changed the name to Zodiak Entertainment. In 2010, Zodiak Entertainment merged with the UK RDF Group, becoming Zodiak Media. In 2015, the production company Kanakna rebranded itself into Zodiak Belgium. During the last 23 years, Zodiak Belgium has gained experience in producing high quality television programmes in nearly every genre in the field: Documentary, Factual, Reality, Entertainment, Drama, Comedy, branded Content and feature films. Many of the Zodiak Belgium shows have become instant classics in Belgium: Het leven zoals het is: Camping, Temptation Island, Peking Express, Survivor, Paradise Hotel, Mijn Restaurant, De buurtpolitie, … Zodiak Belgium prides itself on producing innovative content for multiple national and international broadcasters and has made many hundreds of hours of programmes for clients including VRT, VTM, VIER, EO, RTL, QUATRO, M6,…Zodiak Belgium also creates formats and develops ideas across a range of factual, entertainment and drama programmes.
