The Abbey Theatre is Ireland's National Theatre. The Abbey Theatre, founded by W.B. Yeats and Lady Gregory, first opened its doors in 1904 to ‘bring upon the stage the deeper thoughts and emotions of Ireland’. Since then, it has played a vital and often controversial role in the literary, social and cultural life and landscape of Ireland. The Abbey’s reputation for presenting world-class productions has made it an ambassador for Irish arts and culture at home and abroad.

Established in 1997, Cork Midsummer Festival is one of Ireland's leading multi-disciplinary arts festivals. It is an annual festival which transforms the city of Cork every June with a programme full of local, national and international events including theatre, dance, music, opera, visual arts and street arts, as well as participatory projects and an extensive programme of free events. Known for presenting work in unusual and surprising locations, as well as in the city’s many well-appointed arts venues, over the past 15 years the festival has become a catalyst for the development of emerging arts practice, presented a wide range of ambitious and acclaimed arts events across disciplines. Cork Midsummer Festival is smart and startling, and captivates a growing audience of all ages. We endeavour to bring the Festival to people and parts of the city that might be hard to reach. We bring the world to Cork – and show Cork to the world.

Founded in Galway in 1975 as the first professional theatre company outside Dublin, Druid is a multi-award-winning theatre company.
