JULIUS FOUNDATION Information

Inspiration for this organization has come from Father Julius Bwowe, a Catholic priest serving in the Archdiocese of Kampala. Father Julius has been traveling to Helena, Montana since 2007, where he has established many friendships and works to generate support for his people. He describes situations in his parishes where truly "the need is so great". These needs include a lack of clean water and sanitation, food security, insufficient medical care, inadequate educational facilities, transportation and more; to put it succinctly, human suffering caused by woefully substandard living conditions. This organization seeks to carry out the message of Jesus Christ to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, shelter the homeless, and care for the sick. Father Julius' connection with Montana began in 2006. Matthew Kuntz, a resident of Helena, Montana, while in Africa met a young, energetic priest, Father Julius Bwowe, who was a pastor at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Kitagobwa Parish. Matt suggested that Father Julius come to Montana to raise awareness of the needs in Uganda. Through the generosity of Matt's family, Father Julius made his first visit to Montana in the summer of 2007, where he established relationships with the Cathedral of St. Helena and St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Since Father Julius' initial visit, connections have become stronger within the Helena community, throughout Montana, and the United States.
