Jubilee JumpStart (JJS) is a nationally accredited, bilingual early childhood education nonprofit preparing young children for success in school and life. Our model combines nurturing classrooms, bilingual education, individualized instruction, family partnership, cultural inclusion, and wraparound supports that help children thrive and families build stability. JJS is recognized as a “High Quality” center through DC Capital Quality and a Spur Local Critical Nonprofit, reflecting our trusted role in strengthening children, families, and communities across DC. Access to safe environments, healthy food, compassionate care, and strong early learning experiences shouldn’t be limited by a family’s income, language, or zip code. We can address kindergarten readiness gaps and, at the same time, provide reliable child care that allows parents and caregivers to work and attend school to advance their family’s wellbeing. In this way, the work we do is a two-generation solution to disrupting cycles of poverty. Since opening, JJS has provided center-based care with early intervention supports as needed to more than 770 children aged 6 weeks through 5 years old. This year, we're doubling our reach by opening a new center at Truesdell Elementary School in Ward 4, adding 56 infant and toddler seats and increasing access to high-quality, affordable early learning for more DC families. But our impact extends beyond the classroom: family and community support services include biweekly diaper distributions and monthly free pop-up markets offering food, clothing, infant supplies and household goods. Last year alone, JJS distributed 65,300 diapers and provided enough food for more than 16,500 meals. Every day, our educators, families, partners, and supporters create joyful beginnings, proven impact, and stronger families across DC. Together, we're building a stronger, more equitable early childhood system, one where children are known, loved, supported, and ready to learn.
