JRM Transforming Education Information

Dr. Erin Harrel is a leader in her local Southwest Florida community, as well as in the higher education industry. Dr. Harrel served as the Dean of the School of Education at Florida SouthWestern State College for 5 years prior to starting JRM Transforming Education. Dr. Harrel has served as a middle and high school teacher in some of South Floridas most diverse schools. As a professor, Dean and Vice President of Academic Affairs, she hailed numerous accomplishments and recognitions including: establishing the first school at the former Community College, led the team that attained the Florida Department of Education State Approval for six education baccalaureate programs, two nursing programs, a dental school and a health information management program, as well as leading the successful SACSCOC reaccreditation process for then Edison State College. Dr. Harrels commitment to educational excellence spans beyond the five county districts that she has worked with for the last fifteen years. She served as President Elect of the Florida Association of Colleges for Teacher Education. She has also served as a Lead Reviewer for the Florida Department of Education Program Approval process for Florida Universities and State Colleges, and received appointment from the Florida Commissioner of Education to the Florida Department of Education Program Approval Board beginning July 2011 to July 2016. Additionally, she was appointed by the Florida Commissioner of Education to the Teacher and Leader Preparation Implementation Committee. This committee is part of a national reform effort charged with rewriting the Leadership Standards and Program Approval for Teacher Preparation in the State of Florida. Dr. Harrel has led more than 100 reviews of college and university teacher preparation programs both nationally and internationally with the National Council of Accreditation for Teacher Education (NCATE).
