Jothashilpa Studio Limited is a center for traditional and contemporary arts dedicated to reviving, developing, and promoting Bangladesh’s rich craft heritage. The name “Jothashilpa”—meaning “proper art” or “applied art” in Bengali—reflects our belief in art as a living, evolving force. Founded in 2016, Jothashilpa serves as a creative hub where fine art, folk art, and crafts intersect to form a new artistic dialogue. We collaborate with thousands of artisans from both rural and urban areas — from Jamdani weavers and rickshaw painters to women artisans skilled in embroidery and handcrafts — bridging the gap between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design. Our vision is to connect the soulful artistry of rural Bangladesh with the modern urban world. By empowering grassroots artisans, especially women, we help their craftsmanship reach wider audiences while adapting it to modern lifestyles.
