Jones & Zwiener, Inc. was founded in 1987 by Bill Zwiener and Doug Jones to provide comprehensive land services to the energy industry. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin with BBA degrees in Petroleum Land Management, Bill Zwiener (Class of 1977) and Doug Jones (Class of 1978) both embarked on successful early careers as Landmen in a healthy, growing oil and gas industry. They both acquired broad professional skills working in the field and working in-house. In a growing and active oil and gas business, Bill and Doug moved rapidly into roles with project management responsibilities. As in-house Landmen/Land Managers with aggressive exploration companies, they both gained a keen understanding of the need for successful interaction between in-house Landmen and field-level personnel. Most importantly, Bill and Doug learned the over-arching importance of completing field-level tasks correctly, the first time around. By the time the oil and gas industry bust hit in the mid-1980s, Bill and Doug were solidly grounded in all phases of field landwork and fully understood the needs of the in-house Landman. In 1987, Jones & Zwiener, Inc. began with two capable Landmen offering land services to the oil and gas industry. As their workload grew, Jones & Zwiener focused on establishing long-term relationships with the top Landmen in the business that shared their commitment to honest, hard work. They maintain those long term relationships with their field personnel as evidenced by a large number of top Landmen that started with Jones & Zwiener twenty plus years ago who continue to work for Jones & Zwiener, Inc. today. As the oil and gas business began to rebound and top level, experienced Landmen became scarce, Jones & Zwiener, Inc. was asked by multiple clients to hire and train those wanting to get into the oil and gas industry.
