John Beery Yachts Information

Originally established in 1958, John Beery Yachts has succeeded in many venues, largely due to the experience and leadership of its founder, John Beery. John's history in boating has been recognized world wide. He was a committed racing skipper for over 30 years and has raced all over the world, representing the United States in over 300 international regattas. He has been an active member of the St. Francis Yacht Club for 50 years, an active member at the Encinal Yacht Club for 45 years, a founder of the Island Yacht Club in the early 1970's and was an honorary member of the New York Yacht Club. He was instrumental in the formation, and a founder of the Northern California Marine Association (NCMA). He produced the "San Francisco in the Water Boat Show" in the bay area and after many years of producing it, awarded the rights to the show to the association. In 1960, he authored a book titled "Beery's Basic Sailing". This book was used all over the world as the most concise basic sailing book. He had already begun his business as a sailing instuctor and the natural progression was to embark on the sailing school. As a premier sailing school on Oakland's Lake Merritt as well as Berkeley Aquatic Park, the sailing school produced thousands of knowledgeable Bay Area sailors. The business grew to incorporate a marine chandlery and a small boat sales office at one location. By the mid 1970's John Beery Yachts had locations in Alameda, Berkeley, Sausalito and the largest wholesale marine distributing company in California. During that period John Beery Yachts sold over 2,000 sailboats and countless brokerage boats. In early 2005, his passion for boating ultimately led him to reopen the yacht brokerage. After researching the market for the acquisition of his own yacht, he was introduced to Dyna Yachts. He found their product to be of superior quality and decided to persue the line. In January 2007 John Beery Yachts was offered the exclusive right to market and distribute Dyna Craft Yachts in North America.
