My name is Gwen and I am a registered nurse working at a hospital in Northern California. I am Passionate about my work because I see a dire need for an improvement in wound care. I have created a business aimed at pressure injury reduction for immobile patients being cared for both in hospitals and at home. My company has created multiple bedsore prevention cushions that are hugely beneficial and unique in their ability to help prevent and heal bedsores for patients at risk. As a nurse of 15 years, I understand first-hand the challenges of taking care of bed-bound patients and I understand the reality of caregiving. Using this experience and knowledge when creating my cushions, I have made products that take into consideration both the caregiver as well as the patient. Jewell Nursing Solutions is a company dedicated to the prevention of injuries associated with immobility. Our mission is to pioneer effective innovations for bedside patient care. We design ergonomic pressure reduction support equipment and train caregivers on positioning & lift best practices for safe patient handling. Our no-nonsense approach stems from the principal that removing pressure is the cornerstone of any good pressure ulcer prevention protocol. And that nurses, as the architects and technicians of safe patient handling, need the best available tools and practical techniques to accomplish care without harm. We believe it is possible to achieve zero pressure ulcer incidence. We also believe it is possible to accomplish safe patient handling without caregiver ergonomic injury.
