Kara Mann is the founder and creative director of KARA MANN established in 2005 with offices in Chicago and Los Angeles. Over the past fourteen years Mann has acquired thereputation of a cultural vanguard for her study of the possibilities of spatial design while pushing the boundaries of tradition. Her impactful, refined interiors draw inspiration from a myriad of creative fields including art, architecture and fashion, where Mann began her career. Described by The Wall Street Journal as a “sparkplug in the world of design” Mann juxtaposes formal design elements with unexpected materiality, architecture and an irreverence that has attracted high profile clients in the art, fashion, finance, music and entertainment industries. A steady stream of residential and commercial projects around the world caught the attention of Gwyneth Paltrow’s goop, which sought her out for a collaboration in Chicago in 2015. The same year she was enlisted to reinvigorate Baker Furniture’s Milling Road line and debuted a collection of furniture that blurred the lines between classical and contemporary. In addition to ongoing residential projects around the world, Mann is currently at work on two high profile furniture collaborations launching in 2020 and several luxury hotel projects throughout the United States.

STUDIOKCA is an award-winning architecture and design firm led by Jason Klimoski and Lesley Chang based in Brooklyn, New York with projects ranging in scale and complexity from lighting fixtures and interiors, to public installations, sculptures and buildings in New York, Vermont, Nevada, Wisconsin, Brazil, Taiwan, and Papua New Guinea. Our practice explores the ways in which context and locality offer opportunities to design and create objects and spaces that respond directly to the demands of their programs and environmental conditions. With each project, we are interested in how materials can be crafted or purposed to solve a problem. We believe in the careful use and selection of these materials to shape a narrative, create a sense of place, and offer a unique solution that resonates with our clients and their sites. The work of the firm has been honored with design awards including an American Institute of Architects National Small Project Award, AIA New York City of Dreams Pavilion Winner, AIA Brooklyn + Queens Design Merit Award, SARA New York Chapter Design Award of Excellence, two Chicago Athenaeum American Architecture Awards, three Interior Design Magazine Best of Year Award Honors, two Architizer A+ Award Finalists, and The Architect’s Newspaper Best of Young Architects Award Honorable Mention. The firm's public pavilions and installations have been exhibited on Governors Island and Brooklyn Bridge Park in New York City, at the AIA National Convention, the World Science Festival, The Exploratorium Museum, the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, and at the Jockey Club in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
