The Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) is an independent philanthropic organisation, with offices in Addis Ababa, Beijing, London, Nairobi and New Delhi. For most of its grants, CIFF works with partners to measure and evaluate progress to achieve large-scale and sustainable impact. The organisation is committed to sharing as much information as possible about what they and their partners are learning. Founded in 2002, CIFF employs over 130 professionals in China, Ethiopia, India, Kenya, and the UK. Started out as a student festival in 1974, Film Fest Gent has developed into one of Europe’s foremost competitive film events. Every year in October it presents some of 100 feature films and 30 shorts from all over the world in various sections to an audience of over 125,000 spectators. With music scores largely accounting for a film’s ability to arouse the senses, the festival has focused its official competition ever since 1985 on ‘The Impact of Music on Film’. The festival also shows films in a wide variety of fascinating categories, such as ‘Out of the Box’, ‘Eye Tunes’, ‘Global Cinema’, ‘Belgian Cinema Today’ and many more. Film Fest Gent created in 2001 the World Soundtrack Academy, an unbiased and non-profit structure to promote film music worldwide by organizing concerts and seminars and recording CD’s. The World Soundtrack Awards are presented annually to celebrate outstanding achievements in scoring music for motion pictures.
