Right now every year in the United States alone we generate 25 billion pounds of clothing and textiles, 85% of which ends up going back into the landfill. The other 15% gets donated, and only a small fraction of that roughly 10% actually gets resold. There is a huge disconnect with "what can people do with old clothing". At Jeanie, we are working to reduce on that waste, and both up-cycle old and recycle old clothing into new clothing products. In a sense we are trying to create more of a circular economy around the clothing industry. Currently we are only in our "MVP" stage where we are creating pocket T's with all of the pockets made out of recycled Pants.
