Jewish Family Service LA (www.jfsla.org) is an ‘extended family’ that welcomes and serves people of all ages, ethnicities and religions with compassion and caring. Established in 1854, JFS is proud to offer a family of services for people in need. These nationally recognized services counsel and support individuals and families, helping nearly 100,000 people each year in the greater Los Angeles area. JFS provides food and shelter, connects people with disabilities to vital resources, and helps relatives and friends care for loved ones, young and old. JFS counsels families in crisis, and at-risk children through school based programs. JFS provides safe shelter for homeless families, as well as for abused women and their children, and helps them create independent lives. The families JFS serves have evolved over the last century and a half, but JFS’ mission to strengthen and support families has never wavered.

Our mission is to build flourishing Jewish communities that are healthy, safe, caring, welcoming and inclusive, educated and engaged, active in civil society, and connected to global Jewry and Israel. Jewish Federations are the central communal address in nearly 400 Jewish communities across North America. Our dedicated, creative, and passionate professionals work daily to make our communities and the broader world stronger, more vibrant places.

JVS SoCal offers hope and opportunity to our diverse community through job training, mentoring and education, combined with expert career guidance and employer partnerships, transforming lives and empowering individuals to achieve dignity and independence. A non-sectarian, not-for-profit organization founded in 1931, JVS SoCal has been historically known as Jewish Vocational Service. We offer individuals, businesses and agencies services and programs related to job seeking, career planning, skills assessment, training and retraining. JVS SoCal is committed to helping people help themselves in a caring way that supports human dignity and respects each individual's capabilities and potential. JVS SoCal focuses on strategies that make a real impact on the economic security of individuals, that are sustainable over the long term, and that take place on a scale appropriate to the challenge at hand.
