The mission of Jazz at Lincoln Center is to entertain, enrich and expand a global community for Jazz through performance, education and advocacy. We believe that Jazz is a metaphor for Democracy. Because jazz is improvisational, it celebrates personal freedom and encourages individual expression. Because jazz is swinging, it dedicates that freedom to finding and maintaining common ground with others. Because jazz is rooted in the blues, it inspires us to face adversity with persistent optimism. With the world-renowned Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and guest artists spanning genres and generations, Jazz at Lincoln Center produces thousands of performances, education programs, and broadcast events each season. Jazz at Lincoln Center is led by Managing and Artistic Director Wynton Marsalis, and Executive Director Greg Scholl.

Coastal Jazz is a Vancouver-based not-for-profit arts organization and registered charity. As BC’s largest music presenter, the society is the producer of the annual Vancouver International Jazz Festival, one of the most critically acclaimed jazz festivals in the world. The 38th edition of the Vancouver International Jazz Festival takes place from June 23 to July 2, 2023 across multiple locations across Vancouver, with 140 performances, including over 50 free shows. The Festival kicks off with a free Downtown Jazz concert series outside the Vancouver Art Gallery and šxʷƛ ̓ ənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ Square and includes marquee shows at Queen Elizabeth Theatre and Vancouver Playhouse, plus club shows at various downtown venues, and culminates on Canada Day weekend at Granville Island venues including Performance Works, Ocean Artworks and The Revue Stage. Expect to see over 300 performers from 13 countries participating in the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, including Australia, Belgium, China, Columbia, Cuba, Gambia, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Poland, South Africa, Sweden, the United States and Canada. Coastal Jazz has also been a leader in music Education and Outreach, offering diverse and innovative music programs for youth and the general public. • High School Jazz Intensive Programs • Sounds Of Youth High School Band Performance We are very proud to produce these programs and work with many partners to bring renowned international and Canadian artists to teach and mentor aspiring musicians in local schools and colleges, providing stage + recording experiences.
