The word “Jawonio” is an Indigenous American word for Independence. and for more than 76 years, we continue n for more than 75 years has been to provide compassionate care and quality services that offer hope and opportunity. Jawonio is known for being the place “where miracles happen every day”. Jawonio is the premiere provider of lifespan services for people with special needs. Overview: Jawonio is a New York-based non-profit with service locations in all Rockland and Westchester Counties. In Rockland, all children and adult day, employment and residential are the centerpieces of services, and in Yonkers, our primary services are for adults at our main location in Yonkers. Jawonio operates two successful businesses in the region including a commercial cleaning company as well as a Lego resale store(www.brickitagain.org) . Both entities provide vocational skills, job training and supports leading to employment opportunities. Jawonio has been recognized as a hub of innovation and inclusion and a community resource for disabilities, mental health and clinical services.
