At James Doyle Opticians we offer rigorous screening, for both NHS and private patients. Using our extensive suite of diagnostic and consulting equipment, we check your eyes from inside out, to ensure you have the best achievable vision and that you and your eyes are healthy. Free NHS eye tests are available to all diabetic patients, the over 60‘s, students under 19, glaucoma sufferers, the over 40’s with close family relations with glaucoma Please note we are fully accredited by East Cheshire NHS Trust to provide Diabetic Retinopathy Screening. We have recently installed the most up to date scanning equipment for your eyes, an Ocular Coherence Tomographer or OCT for short, one of the first opticians to have this technology in the North West of England, this has enabled us to take our patient care to the next level. The OCT is effectively an ‘optical ultrasound’, imaging reflections from deep within the eye tissue to provide high quality cross-sectional images. This aids diagnosis of ocular conditions such as diabetes, macular degeneration, cataracts and dry eyes at the earliest possible stage. The scanning process itself is completely painless. Visual fields tests and eye pressure tests are carried out as standard, so the symptomless vision changes in early glaucoma are identified. Additionally laser scanning tomography can reveal the most subtle changes, for those with a family history of glaucoma. Irlens syndrome, visual stress and dyslexia are managed in our Vision & Learning Clinic using the Intuitive Colorimeter and examinations for more complex prescriptions are also available.
