ITLawCo advises regulated institutions on the technology and data decisions that conventional legal practice can't fully answer. The firm was founded by a former general counsel who built it around what he wished he'd had as a client: advisers fluent enough in the technology to engage with it directly, grounded enough in operations that the advice survives contact with the business, and clear enough in writing that the documents serve the people who have to use them. We are three, deliberately. Law and data science. Business intelligence and analytics. Communications and crisis management. Most technology and data questions sit across all three at once, and splitting them between three separate advisers is how the answer gets lost. Our work concentrates in financial services, insurance, and manufacturing — sectors where every decision has a regulator on one side and an operational reality on the other. We have handled thousands of ICT contracts, run data protection programmes across jurisdictions, and worked alongside organisations deploying AI in production rather than in pilot. We are based in Cape Town and Monte Carlo, and we work across African and global markets. The African vantage is not a limitation. Cross-border data flows, infrastructure constraints, AI deployment in jurisdictions the EU and US discourse largely ignores — that is home territory, and it travels. We do the unglamorous work. We simplify complex processes. What clients tend to say afterwards is that the thing got easier, and that is the measure we hold ourselves to. Caution is not the same as judgment.
