We mainly focus on prosecution of Japanese as well as international patents, utility models, trademarks and designs. We also provide opinions and represent clients in litigation in Japanese courts and in proceedings before the Japanese Patent Office. We prosecute patents and handle patent-related matters relating to virtually every technical field ranging from electronic, electrical, mechanical, chemical, architectural and civil engineering to biotechnology, software, and computer science. Five of our patent attorneys specialize in trademarks and designs and provide clients with services in prosecution, searches and counseling with respect to the full spectrum of goods and services. All of our patent attorneys and technical specialists are highly proficient in reading English-language documents. This enables the attorneys and specialists who handle the original Japanese patent application to review its foreign counterpart applications and related Office Actions in English, which in turn ensures delivery of efficient high-quality service to clients. In addition, we have a team of full-time professional translators. In total, over 10 of our patent attorneys, technical specialists and staff have studied in the U.S. or otherwise learned to speak English fluently, allowing our foreign clients and their counsel to communicate with us directly and effectively via telephone. We also have a patent attorney from China who can communicate with Chinese patent counsel and clients over the phone. We handle a variety of litigation matters, including patent and trademark infringement lawsuits before the courts and the Japanese patent office. Eight of our patent attorneys have received a special qualification allowing them to represent parties in Japanese litigation. To date, we have litigated patent infringement cases involving the following technical fields: mechanical, electronic, architectural, civil, software, telecommunication and computer science. With regard to U.S. intellectual property disputes, we cooperate with Isshiki International Law Office.
