Israel Palestine Cooperative for Economic Expansion (IPCEE) Information

IPCEE believes that physical barriers obstruct individuals, institutions and societies divided in conflict from forming meaningful and trusting relationships. IPCEE helps to transform perceptions of an enemy from one of conflict and mutual distrust, into constructive engagement. Serving as a cross-border lifeline, IPCEE contributes to forming critical alliances improve individual and institutional relations. Strengthening the Palestinian health sector so that they can realize medical self-reliance, is mutually beneficial to both Israelis and Palestinians. The IPCEE Healthcare Initiative, Peace Through Medicine, addresses the shortage of doctors in Israeli hospitals and the need for improved medical capacity for the Palestinian West Bank (Palestine). In fact, over the past two years, alone Israel has issued 500,000 medical permits for Palestinian patients and their families to enter Israel for medical care in Israeli hospitals. Israeli hospitals welcome Palestinian IPCEE Physician Fellows as a source for increased medical capacity for IPCEE partner Israel and Palestinian hospitals and the Palestinian people benefit from the highly technical and world-class training of their skilled doctors. Specifically, IPCEE helps to infuse short-staffed Israeli hospitals with Palestinian physicians from the West Bank, while each Palestinian doctor concurrently works in a particular Palestinian hospital in the West Bank. These benefits are essential elements for promoting a pragmatic inter-independence and stability, between Palestinians and Israelis. Reducing Palestinian reliance on Israeli hospitals and the reduction in the number of medical permits issued for Palestinian patients treated in Israel is mutually beneficial.
