Island Cruises offers a leisurely, interactive introduction to the outer islands, wildlife, and history of the Bar Harbor and Acadia area. Spectacular wildlife abounds-from sunbathing seals to majestic osprey and eagles, all observable in their natural habitats. It's no wonder that the Audubon Society, Nature Conservancy, and Maine Coast Heritage Trust have all made such strong commitments to Blue Hill Bay. A quiet and relaxing alternative to other Bar Harbor boat tours, Island Cruises is based out of Bass Harbor. We have been family owned and operated for over 20 years. Our primary vessel, the 40-foot R.L. Gott, is a "lobster" style passenger boat that carries a small and friendly crowd of no more than 49 passengers. We're the perfect venue to see seals, porpoises, herons, osprey, eagles, and other wildlife up close and personal, and haul a lobster trap or two-all while experiencing beautiful scenery and learning the lore of Bass Harbor and Maine's rich fishing history from local captains Kim and Eli Strauss. Whether you enjoy wildlife or just peaceful scenery, Island Cruises has a great trip for you. Step aboard one of our boats for an experience you'll never forget. We now offer sailboat tours aboard our 6-passenger sailing vessel, the Motu Iti. This meticulously maintained Pearson 365 has a well earned cult following among cruising sailors the world over-a finer sailboat to cruise the Maine coast can't be found. Although this boat carries fewer passengers, it is anything but small-with multiple bunks, a full galley, and a head with a separate shower down below. If you've ever wanted to learn how to sail, we encourage you to help crew the boat and become proficient in this delightful pastime.
